I'll write about this when I'm home, currently at work. I think I remember the Legacy crafting system well (it was ripped off another shard I believe, but Noxin improved it).

Still haven't commented on this yet, I'll try and get round to it tonight if I have a chance. Don't know what other people think about this if they remember but I'm strongly in favour of this system and think it would 'complete' crafting for release including the other changes....

Would probably be fun to code, but would maybe also make crafting overpowered?

It's based on the 'XML sockets' system on RunUO forums. I've had a quick look through and it's a nice system in theory, just would obviously cause issues with balance. If people liked it enough it'd be easy enough to downgrade everything else to accomodate it, though.
