Headphone and speakers at same time
Does anyone know of a way to have your headphones and your speakers both connected to the pc at the same time, with a way to switch output between them at a key combo, or via a hardware switch of some kind ?
At present, I have to crawl around the back of the computer and disconnect one item and plug in the other.
This is not satisfactory.

i have a case which has its on soundports (and extra usb2/firewire ports) . I hooked them up to the mobo, so i have the speakers connected to the back, and i just turn them off when i dont want them, and have the headphones from the front. Other than that, i would imagine just what laz said. Or mabye usb headphones or something.

My sound setup by Creative has a volume control which is on my desk, with a headphone socket on the end. Also my tower has headphone / mic slots on the front, which if i have headphones plugged in and speakers on, sound comes out of both (except vent only comes out of headset). Not sure about other setups, but you should at least have headphone socket on the front on your pc to allow both connections. If not, get some decent speakers that allow headphones.

I have creative sound system as well. there is a volume control thingy that snakes from the bass (on the floor) and rests on my desk. There is a socket in this volume control that when i plug my headset it cuts volume to speakers and feeds to my headset. for the mic. i went to an electronics store and bought a 10 foot head-jack extension. i used twisty ties from bread loafs to tie the extension to the volume control cord. looks neat. the other end goes arround back of desk into the mic slot of my sound card.
basically i keep the mic on my headset plugged in at all times with headset resting on desk. when i want hot cyber i plug the green part into the volume control. speakers cut off.
yeah i got tired of crawling back under my desk too for plugging in headset

Thanks, but I no longer have a sound system since the wife forgot to take the hifi out of the cabinet when we gave our lounge furniture to the household clearence man.Deo wrote:very simple, hook your SB up at your stereo, now if you got a semi descent sound system then you can hook up about 3headsets on it.
