Granted he scores goals, but thats all he does, fuck off with "GOALS WIN GAMES", you have to create the chances first. Faddy and Miller at least try, the school boy mentality of "OMG ILL JUST STAND IN THE BOX AND ILL SCORE ALL THE GOALS" is retarded. He's 25, arguably the best scorer in the SPL (personally i think Riordan is a better finisher) and yet every manager since McLeish has had nothing to do with him in important games.
Great he scores 10 goals against St Mirren every season, fucking great. Its McFadden who scoring against France, Miller whos scoring against Italy. Hell even FLETCHER (Darren) worked out he had a donkey of a first touch and has changed his game, thus getting a run in the Man U side (all be it helped with injuries). If a 25 year old pro footballer cant work out he's not getting the minutes because he's a lazy fuck then deal with it. He's scored 2 goals this season, let him be a bench boy for the huns, ill wave to him when he's sitting in the stands at the next game.
Bollocks Angus. Mcfadden has to be one of the most overated Scotland players ever, especially since he scored a fluke against France. The media shoot their load over him - yes he has been excellent in some games, he is a persistant fecker, but there have been so many games where he has been non-existant.
I don't think there's a question of Boyd being the best scorer in the SPL... the fact is stat wise...he is. He only scores against St Mirren...why(which is bollocks btw)? Pretty fucking simple really. It's the only team's he get's games against. European wise, he very rarely get's a start because we play with 1 up front - which admitly doesn't suit him, but as far as Scotland were concerned we were playing 4-3-3, and even at 4-4-2, Boyd is ideal for this role, with someone like Miller playing off him doing all the donkey work. It frustrates me so much, knowing that we have a gifted scorer, with the runners like McFadden or Miller playing off him, yet it's almost never used. Why?
Rangers persist on playing Darcheville with Miller, or Velicka with Miller or Velicka with Darcheville.... These guys are brilliant at doing everything bar finishing. The Scotland squad is incredibly similar to Ranger's and they're making the same mistakes we are. Bollocks to you saying goals don't win game, chances do. Check ratios with Boyd playing for us, etc and you'll see I'm right.
Seriously what the fuck is the point in playing a 3 man attack, with no out and out scorer on, yet have 2 on the bench? Surely in a 3man attack, Boyd should have place in ANY squad.
why would you bring on a player with no caps
when you are playing at home in a game you must win.. and you have the best goal scorer in the league sat on the bench?
and McFadden is shit
his goal scoring record for a striker is awful
he can't even score in the Championship...
I dont disagree that he is a natural finisher, but we're Scotland. I can throw my national pride about and beat my chest, but in honesty we just dont create enough chances for Boyd to be upfront. I think we're getting there, Morrison/Maloney are excting players, but truthfully, out of all our strikers, if we're playing one upfront I would go with Miller. I just cant see past him for work ethic and scoring.
Its all a pointless argument anyway, I wouldnt play us in a 4-3-3 and yes Boyd would be in my squad.
Also yes I think Riordan is the best finisher in the SPL
