Aye i see ads for eve too.

They'll have their reasons, perhaps its a funding issue?

Yeah it is funding, their actual funding ran out a long time ago, they've been self-funded for a while now, it does show their dedication to the cause, but it also means it's going to be a slow process and quality will probably suffer because of it.

WAR turned into a "single player game" for me, i felt i completed it, and i paid only the original 30$, zero % chance of a return heh!!

if i designed a mmo for 7 years id much prefer a big subs return than the selling the initial product.

why do u think they flogged UO to death with half assed expansions and gimmicks, to keep it going and to reap the subs of those that played it. not to attract new custom (imo!)

id be interested to see income generated by subs compared to outlays on initial games+expansions.

i personally paid hundreds of pounds in uo subs, after dling it free :s

Agreed subs are important.

The more I think about your argument Merc i see your point. Theres no point in makin a game, selling 100,000 copies and only 20,000 playing it. I still selling those games would be good, but your right its not the only way to do it.

Looking at your way, I would start with a server or two, max. Europe/US perhaps a far east server. That way the servers seem full, it cant be that hard to start a new server once players start to come to the game (Nox can either confirm/disagree with that).

Ack I dunno - I dont think there will ever be anything like UO. It sounds silly to say, but it was "Magic". There was nothing like, nothing like it now. You really could do anything. Its one of the only games ive seen/played that RPers/Griefers/Casual/Hardcore players all played on the same server, it was great.

We'll wait and see, personally im still waiting for the UO dev team to ocme here and offer us all jobs.
