Well, after my interview going so well I was a bit put off not to hear back for three weeks, almost four, decided to throw the guy an email asking whats going on, got this back :-
Hi Richard,

Thanks for getting in touch – we haven’t forgotten about you!

We have interviewed a few more people and the process is ongoing – but is taking much longer than expected. If you don’t hear from us in the next four weeks please assume that your application has been unsuccessful or the process has been delayed even further
So, im gonna assume that either they got a better qualified person or im just flat out not what there looking for, which sucks.

So, back to the job hunt. Just gonna send out my CV to everything now, I was holding off for companies I want, but the dreaded "LOL EXPERIENCE PLEASE" stance of most firms has fucked me.

Bah

Good luck.
That is an amazingly long time to wait for feedback though.

May have taken 5 months but finally got something.

Decided I didn't wanna look outwith the games industry until I had no choice and its paid off, working for Real Time Worlds (made Crackdown for 360 and now working on the MMO - APB). Its for a testing position so im at the bottom of the ladder but will be good for my CV if anything and that valuable experience ive been lacking.

Cheers for help chaps/

Shibby Angus, noticed they are located in Dundee so that's pretty decent for you.

Probably a bit early to tell, but what kind of line do you think you want to go down with them??

Did you find the credit crunch made job hunting any harder?

Testing is a pretty hard job actually, but it's a good way in, particuarly towards production or design roles

grats!

Cheers chaps.

@ Nix - Yeah man I found it tough, i decided a while back i wasn't just gonna apply for anything and everything as I felt i would cry rl tears if i got stuck in a job i hate at 22. So basically i was left with 7 or so games firms in Dundee, managed to get 3 interviews in total, one company emailed back about 2 months later saying due to the current conditions they've decided not to hire anyone, which was gutting, and a second company decided instead of having two QA they were gonna merge it into one, so i lost out on that too. RTW took ages to get worked out, its a lower wage than I wanted but as Benn said its a great foot in the door, hoping to work my way upto design.

Best thing about RTW is they provide extra training and qualifcations so i can keep adding to my CV and experience while getting paid.

But as Calix said its a total nightmare at the moment, i mean people ARE hiring but its either top jobs that people such as myself (recent graduates) have no chance of getting or its jobs with no real qualifications needed and thus a waste of my four years of Uni. There are still good jobs going but its just there few and far between. I think I heard on the news for every job going there is 50 graduates waiting to apply. My dad just took early retirement cos he cba and he works in our local school as the head janitor and there was 78 applicants for his job alone, and tbh while he got a decent salary (i believe around 22k a year) that was doing A LOT of hours and extra shifts.

Ack well, least i got it sorted.
