Well yeah thats true. Ive not followed Darkfall, the only thing I read is what you guys post here and I must admit im fairly shocked to hear there is no advetising and still no open beta - perhaps January release is a pipe dream...

I still think that not releasing in the christmas period will benefit them, although if what your saying is true and there not adding to this then its all for nothing.

Often I think if we knew how to programme an MMO created on this board would be brilliant (in theory).

I think im just bored reading about x y or MMO coming out. I think people just see the money Blizzard make and assume they can get some, but its like someone saying "Look, Windows/Vista sells for £100+, we'll go make an OS" and while people have done that does it make anything near was Windows does? Perhaps if people just said "Right, an MMO is an area we want to enter, but let's not do it now, lets concentrate on singe player games (potential with a with great multiplayer) and build a fan base and expertise" then future MMO's that come out will be good, until then we're going to have to put up with all the shit that is thrown at us.

I for one will avoid it, viva la console (and pc too!)

Well, having not followed the whole thing at all I think they may want to open small, hence not much/at all advertising or beta to gain publicity. They have a core group that'll play the game no matter what, the guys who've been on the forums for years now (not talking about you Villa).

They're opening with what, a one server in europe, but allowing north american players to participate?

Maybe they don't have money or maybe it's a concious decision. But best case scenario I see is that the core group sticks through the launch when everything is buggy/server keeps going up and down ect, like is common with mmo launches. Then they fix things, it starts to get good, and more people hear of it through word of mouth and they get more subscriptions.

Start out small, and go up ala CCP/EVE.

Don't start big and then after 30 days get a fraction of a number of people renewing subscriptions.

It would be nice to think this will be a great game, but I find it hard to get my hopes up when it's been made by a company who are constantly setting and resetting release dates and who have little-to-no media campaign going six weeks before launch. Everything about it screams arse over tit, and I hope I'm wrong but I can't help thinking 'brilliant ideas, terrible execution'.

Yeah, CCP is the company behind EVE.

And I agree Sonez, it'll more likely be that, but it's nice to think otherwise sometime.

1 month before launch and no sign of open beta?
Either the game is mind blowingly good and they have a guaranteed winner on their hands, or its a turd.

no turd pls
