It is all well and good for learning about myths, but analysing them? Dear sweet lord. Even the top professionals have difficulty between distinguishing definitions between 'myth' 'folklore' 'saga' and many other types of 'tale'. Essays are about being as vague and fucking ambiguous as you possibly can, discussing differences without being assertive.
I wrote an essay on whether 'myth' is a good precursor to history; argued the differences between them with many different sources and concluded that history is deemed as such because it is accepted as - by and large - factually accurate. My seminar leader wrote 'what about neo-nazi historians who say the holocaust never happened !!!!111' Well, they're discredited aren't they; neither respected nor believed.
'History is what people say happened
Myth is what people say happened'
What he wanted was an essay which explored the subject and found no differentiations.
Fucking tool.
