This is genuine btw in case anyone is wondering. Graphics look pretty decent I guess it's what everyone wanted, and im glad they are keeping the isometric perspective. Should be enough to persuade many people to return and some more to join.

Have to say I'm very surprised to see this, never ever thought EA would approve development of a new client, perhaps even the EA execs were more than slightly moved at the prospect of being the first MMORPG to ever last ten years, and this will be the reward. Could be interesting.

Congratulations!

You are one of the very first to get a glimpse of a reborn Ultima Online. We won't be releasing more details for a bit, but we do want to let you know a few things:
We are completely re-building the Ultima Online client with new graphics and a new easier-to-use interface.
It is an in-place upgrade. That means you will be able to keep your characters, items, houses and everything else you've earned over the past nine years.
We are committed to maintaining extremely low system specs. They will be higher than what UO launched with in 1997, but will still be far lower than almost any other MMORPG on the market.
The launch will happen in 2007.
There are many, many more surprises in store.
The Ultima Online development team has been working hard for the past eight months to make real the vision of a thriving, vibrant Ultima Online. We are proud to finally let you in on our secret. Look for a full announcement soon.

I know you probably have lots of questions. Before this year ends, we will answer just about all of them, so keep watching www.uo.com.

What Amber said basically.

It's come too late for people like me who have actually completely given up on UO altogether.
Ironically I'm now playing ShadowBane again.

Quite true, infact i think the 3d client looks worse now than at release. Very strange!

I really like the graphics. It still looks like UO, just a bit more beautiful. :) But the graphics have never been the biggest problem of UO. The economy is bullshit, the new skills are just silly. No clue how this new "proficency system" will work and if it makes PvP a bit better. If so I´ll probably reactivate my account.

What is that expansion?

It's amazing how much difference a new graphics engine/client can make.
Even if the game is still shit, it still arouses some interest.

Graphics are of course never the be all and end all of a game, but they definately help in attracting players.

Do you mean the proficency system? That´s coming in pub42 I think with the goal to reduce the power of items. It´s kind of difficult, I didn´t look properly in the details, but you get an amount of "points" and can build your suit with this. The whole item system will change with this. Wearing loads of Artifacts is useless for you then.
