I think I had a pair on my account. Not sure though if I sold them. Did this happen to all vine cords!? And how much have been around lately? I didn´t play for some month and remember quiet a lot were sold like four month ago..

All vine cord sandals were converted to just plain sandals. The original pair are no longer in game anyway, being on an account that was banned some time ago.
The person who was the first owner of the item (not the owner of the banned account) explained how the item came about, I'll post that if anyone is interested.

when he first got the sandals they had no properties, he traded them for some other event crap and next publish he wristed RL when they got 20 resist on them :p

Amber's right, Manticore got them, with no 'mods' because it was before AoS. It's believed they were given 'invul armor' status so that they wouldn't be destroyed. I lost a few pair of boots mining val eles back then.
Except when AoS came in they got converted the same way invul armor items did and acquired resists.
The account holding the original pair was banned quite a while ago, every pair now in game is a dupe.
